December is designated as Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Month in an effort to eliminate the tragic consequences of drugged or drunk driving and re-dedicate ourselves to preventing it not only in the month of December, but all throughout the year.

Soldiers, Sailors and Marines met on the Blue and Gray Field Oct. 29 for the 30th Annual Fort Detrick Army/Navy flag football game, and when the final gun sounded it was Navy holding the trophy for the first time in eight years with a 21-20 victory over Army.

Each parking area on Fort Detrick has spaces set aside for personnel with handicapped/disabled parking permits. These spaces are designed to accommodate individuals with special needs, including easy access to ramps for wheelchairs.



Fort Detrick Regulation 190-5, Fort Detrick Traffic Code, states, “Drivers are prohibited from parking in a designated handicap parking spot unless the vehicle displays a valid current state- or Fort Detrick- issued handicap placard, permit or disabled driver license plate issued to a handicapped individual who is a passenger or driver of the vehicle in question [cited as Unauthorized Parking in Handicap Spot].”

Fort Detrick welcomed the fall season with a Harvest Festival put on by the Fort Detrick Chapel, a Pumpkin Chunkin’ competition and Oktoberfest sponsored by the Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, and a Trunk or Treat event sponsored the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency Oct. 28 in and around the Community Activities Center.

Winter weather is just around the corner. In preparation of the inevitable snow to come, Fort Detrick held its annual Winter Weather Conference at the Community Activities Center Oct. 28. The conference intent each year is to inform the Fort Detrick community on how the U.S. Army Garrison will notify employees of operational status and snow removal processes, as well as request assistance from tenants and units on the installation.
