Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Jan. 9 is recognized as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and is a perfect opportunity to show law enforcement officers we recognize the sacrifice and courage it takes to put on the badge to protect and serve.

Fort Detrick supports all those who have chosen to stand on the front lines to protect our communities, our families and our great Nation. In recognition of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the Fort Detrick Police Department will have coffee and soup in the lobby of the police station, Building 1419 on Jan. 9 from 7:30 -10:30 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to stop by and show their support for our local law enforcement.

There are several additional ways to show your appreciation to local law enforcement officers:
• Tie a blue ribbon on your car antenna, mailbox, motorcycle or anywhere it can be tied on
• Shine blue lights from your home
• Wear blue on Jan. 9 in support of law enforcement
• Share a positive story about a law enforcement experience on social media with hashtag #LEAD@DetrickUSAG
• Send a card of support and encouragement to your local police department or state agency

Events are being held throughout the United States in connection with Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to show support in various ways to local law enforcement officers.
