The Fort Detrick Fire and Emergency Services Office of Fire Prevention is committed to keeping the community of Fort Detrick/ Forest Glen safe through the 3 E's of prevention: Engineering, Education and Enforcement. Fire Prevention Week is just one opportunity this office has to interact and engage the community on the importance of fire prevention and how to keep themselves and their families safe.

The 2017 National Fire Protection Association's National Fire Prevention Week themed message is "Every Second Counts, Plan 2 Ways Out", identifying the need to have at least two ways out of your home or office in the event of a fire or other emergency.

Below is a highlight of the Fort Detrick Fire and Emergency Services Fire Prevention Week activities that will take place throughout the month of October.

"Pop Up" educational displays will be placed throughout the installation in our high-traffic buildings throughout the month of October. Vertical banners with several different fire safety messages covering carbon monoxide emergencies, preventing kitchen fires, smoke alarm maintenance and planning two ways out will be placed in high visibility areas along with tables consisting of educational fire safety brochures. This display model is a great, quick way to get our messages out.
