Safety Day at Forest Glen A Success

By Lanessa Hill

Safety was the key word for the day. On June 29, Forest Glen Annex hosted its first safety day for employees. Vendors were available who provided items and information tied to workforce safety and sustainability.

The event which was held in the fire department had a continuous flow of people who seemed to enjoy the information at hand as well as the grilled food prepared by the firemen. Information included recycling programs through Montgomery County, safe work apparel, substance abuse programs, health care and an idea station designed for employees to make recommendations and suggestions on how their working environment can be improved.

Now that Fort Detrick has received star status within the Occupational Safety Health Administrations Voluntary Protection Program and is in the top one percent in safety in the nation, providing the safest working environment as well as making available the tools and information to keep everyone safe outside the fence remains a priority.
