Members of the Fort Detrick and Frederick
communities played golf with service members July 21 at the Black Rock Golf
Course in Hagerstown, Maryland.
“Businesses sponsored the service members, so there was no cost to anyone who was an enlisted service member and an E5 or below,” said Diana Neff, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation marketing specialist. “The sponsors and more experienced golfers were really helpful in showing the service members how to play. It was fun to see everyone working together and having fun.”
A total of 24 service members participated in the event, as well as the Frederick City Mayor Randy McClement, Fort Detrick Garrison Commander Col. Steve Middlecamp and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Jessup.
“The last place team won a prize,” said Larry Ketron, FMWR marketing specialist. “They won a free round of golf, but it was a really great way to make everyone feel included.”
