Leadership Frederick visits Fort Detrick
Jennifer Benson, USAG Public Affairs
On Nov. 10, Fort Detrick U.S. Army Garrison Commander Col. Robert O’Brien welcomed the 2016 Leadership Frederick County class to Fort Detrick for an Economic Development Day at the Community Activities Center.

As a graduate of the Leadership Frederick program, O’Brien shared the benefits he gained coming in as a new commander, new to Frederick County; how going through the program helped shape his tenure here at Fort Detrick and has enabled him to build relationships with local officials, enhancing communications and understanding between the two.

Representatives from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Frederick National Labs also provided overviews of their operations.

The class had a chance to ask questions from the panelist to gain additional insight into the operations and complexity of Fort Detrick.

Leadership Frederick is a Frederick County Chamber of Commerce program where each year local professionals are selected to explore Frederick County over the course of 9 months. This experience provides unique perspective on the problems, opportunities and issues facing Frederick County.
