The 302nd Signal Battalion hosted a Non-Commissioned Officer Induction Ceremony Aug. 19 at Fort Detrick.

The NCO induction ceremony is a celebration of newly promoted Soldiers joining the ranks of a professional non-commissioned officer corps. Its primary purpose is to build and emphasize the pride all NCOs share as members of such an elite corps. The guest speaker was U.S. Army Garrison Fort Meade Command Sgt. Maj. Rodwell Forbes, who spoke about the importance of junior enlisted Soldiers seeing their NCOs cross through the archway and over the line of authority. Forbes was given a statue of an American Soldier as a token of appreciation by the 302d Signal Battalion’s Command Sgt. Maj. Darien Lawshea for his contributions towards this time honored event.
