Fort Detrick was one of the major employers in Frederick County acknowledged during the Best Places to Work 2014 ceremony, Aug. 5, at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland.
The Best Places to Work Campaign, now in its 12th year, is part of a countywide partnership among the business and government sectors and the community. The campaign’s focus is on increasing quality-of-life opportunities for Frederick County employees.
“It’s a real pleasure to be here. It’s wonderful to be involved with the partners that are here as well,” said Maj. Gen. Joseph Caravalho, Jr., commander of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Fort Detrick, in his remarks during the awards ceremony. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell you how proud we are to be your Army, your military and your partners right here in Frederick County.”
For three years, Fort Detrick has been recognized for being committed to its Soldiers, families and civilians by using balanced approaches to meet personal, professional and national objectives. Winners were selected based on their strong commitment to their employees and for creating a positive work environment.
Fort Detrick tied with a trade show management organization for the major employer in Frederick County.
“Well, in the Army, we don’t believe in ties,” Caravalho said jokingly.
