Provide information and services on benefits and entitlements to active duty Soldiers and families preparing for retirement and to retirees and families.

Meetings/Events

Fort Detrick All-Services Retiree Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 0700 in classroom 6 in Bldg 1520, the Community Support Center.

The Fort Detrick All Services Retiree News letter is going digital! What is the Retiree Newsletter? It's the local publication that keeps you, our retirees up-to-date on new programs and sources of assistance.

The Retiree Newsletter is now produced as an Adobe PDF file and distributed via e-mail right to your in-box. This will help reduce costs and help save the evironment - it's going GREEN.

Services/Resources at this Office

Pre-retirement Services

  • Conducts Pre-retirement briefings. This seminar is mandatory for retiring servicemembers and is highly recommended for family members. Call 301-619-2174 to register for a briefing date.
  • Individual SBP to completed DD Form 2656 (Data for Payment of Retired Personnel)
  • Conducts one on one SBP counseling for retiring servicemember and/or family member
  • Processes DD Form 2656 electronically to Defense Finance & Accounting Service
  • Provides Career Status Bonus/Military Retirement Reform Act Retired Pay Option (CSB/REDUX) retirement pay option counseling and complete DD Form 2839 to initiate payment and document counseling

Post-retirement Services

  • Publishes retiree bulletin at least annually
  • Conducts the annual Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD)
  • Counsels and assists survivors in applying for SBP annuity
  • Counsels and assists survivors of Soldiers who die on active duty with understanding their benefits and entitlement as it relates to SBP, Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)
  • Reviews retirees pay account
  • Reviews annuitant pay account
  • Request copies of the Retired Account Statement
  • Request copies of the 1099-R form for tax filing
  • Changes mailing address
  • Changes bank information
  • Changes beneficiary information
  • Changes allotments
  • Assists retirees and family members obtain lost DD Form 214, reissuing military awards, & medical records
  • Provides retirees with information on Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC)
  • Provides retirees with information on Concurrent Retirement and Disability Payments (CRDP)

Army ILE Course for senior captains and majors offered locally

The Intermediate Level Education is a course designed to prepare senior captains and majors for leadership positions in Army, joint, multinational and interagency organizations executing full spectrum operations. Previously known as CGSC, ILE consists of a common core curriculum that includes Joint PME 1 requirements and the required Branch and/or Functional Area specialized education or qualification course.
