Not only do we live and work in the community, we give back.
Over the years, the NIBC and Fort Detrick has forged many partnerships in the community.
As the largest employer in the community, many employees live and work in the Frederick, MD area.
From our community outreach programs for kids just beginning in school to our support of the education of our staff, the NIBC emphasizes the value of a strong education in science and being part of the community.
We sponsor numerous contests and awards, serve as science fair judges, host a spring research festival, as well as help people of all ages experience the excitement of discovery in children and demonstrate the exciting aspects of science with the hope of inspiring the next generation of scientists.
Our extensive interactions at the collegiate level intertwine the Laboratory with some of the brightest minds today. The NIBC provides internships and supports numerous research collaborations across the nation.

Environmental Sustainability
Frederick County's Office of Environmental Sustainability brings together community partners to build a sustainable future for the region.
