Forest Glen Express to Close Nov. 2
U.S. ARMY GARRISION FOREST GLEN – After operating the Forest Glen Express at a loss for two years, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service will close the facility Nov. 2, 2018.

“The Exchange supports military communities by generating needed financial support for critical military Quality-of-Life programs,” said Joint Base Andrews Exchange General Manager Thea Sarver, who also oversees the Forest Glen Express. “Continuing to operate the store at a loss prevents the Exchange from fulfilling this mission and ultimately hurts the broader military community.”

The Forest Glen Express experienced a decline in foot traffic after being unable to provide premium fuel because of the age of its fuel tanks and the potential environmental impacts.

The Exchange operates Express locations with fuel on Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Fort Myer and Fort McNair. Military shoppers can also find a wide selection of name-brand merchandise, including BE FIT attire and footwear, electronics and more, at these locations.

Military shoppers can also visit ShopMyExchange.com for more than 2 million items at ShopMyExchange.com, which offers free shipping on any order placed using a MILITARY STAR® card or totaling $49 or more. One hundred percent of Army & Air Force Exchange Service earnings support the military community.

“It’s been an honor to serve the community at Forest Glen,” Sarver said. “We thank our customers for their patience, understanding and will continue to serve them at Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling and ShopMyExchange.com.”
