Logistics Readiness Center (LRC)
Mass Transit Benefit Program (MTBP)
9200 Veterans Drive
Fort Detrick, MD 21702
The Mass Transportation Benefit Program was established in October 2000 and is offered to eligible employees and military service members, to the extent authorized by law and regulation, to reduce pollution and traffic congestion, preserve the environment, and expand transportation alternatives.
Under this program, participating employees in the National Capital Region (NCR) receive "transit passes" in amounts equal to their personal commuting costs, not to exceed $255 per month.
The Vanpool program helps government employees of Fort Detrick save lots of money in commuting costs to and from work. Vanpools are now being formed in all surrounding areas and cities.
We are looking for outgoing individuals who want to save money and to join a vanpool. We are also looking for volunteers to be riders and lead drivers to take charge of these Vanpools.
By leasing a van in this program, each rider receives up to $255 a month towards the lease amount. Other incentives include FREE gas, (used while commuting) free maintenance and free insurance.
The process is really easy and the benefits are outstanding. If you live in one of these areas or another location and would like to be a part of a Vanpool, Please call 301-619-3275.
The Fort Detrick Carpool Program was established to support an area-wide goal to decrease vehicular emissions. In addition to environmental benefits, carpooling will reduce the demand for vehicle parking during peak times, therefore making a limited resource more readily available to those in need.
Concerned about everyday obligations? Don't be! You don't have to carpool every day. Some individuals are interested in carpools for one or two days a week, while others prefer carpools that have regular schedules. Carpools are flexible alternatives that can be tailored to your needs.

You don't even have to worry about getting a ride home in the case of an emergency!
In collaboration with Frederick County TransIT and Commuter Connections, incentives such as the Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) Program are available to Fort Detrick participants who actively participate in the Fort Detrick Carpool Program. The GRH Program provides carpoolers with reliable transportation when life's unexpected emergencies arise. Carpoolers will be able to get independent transportation to their homes because of unexpected personal emergencies or unscheduled overtime up to FOUR times per year. Commuter Connections has contracted with several taxi and car rental companies to provide GRH transportation to get you to your destination quickly and safely.
