Mutual Aid Response: Poole Jones Road

Mutual Aid Response: At 0812 Truck 50 dispatched and responded to assist Frederick Co. 2 for a dwelling fire at 7501 Poole Jones Road. Truck 50 arrived on scene of an approximately 3500 sq. ft. farm house, side A with heavy fire from the second floor windows. Crews conducted an interior search of the first and second floor with no occupants found. While crew A was conducting search and rescue operations Crew B threw ground ladders and setup Truck 50 for ladder pipe operations. After approximately 30 minutes of interior fire attack crews were pulled from the residence by command and ladder pipe operations placed in service. After bulk of fire was knocked with ladder pipe operations crews began removal of tin roofing materials from the roof to better attack the seat of the fire. After several hours of fire Marshall investigation, crew was directed by command to flow CAFS onto the structure to help with final extinguishment. After wrap up of equipment Truck 50 returned in service and arrived in quarters at 17:30 hrs. without further incident.

Mutual Aid Response: Garage Fire

Mutual Aid Response: At 0232 truck 50 was dispatched for an attached garage fire. Truck 50 arrived on the scene on side "A" with heavy fire showing from the "D" side of a one story single family dwelling, with exposure problems on side "D" of the structure. Truck 50 took the hydrant and deployed one 1 3/4 attack line thru the front door on the alpha side manned by crews from rescue engine 11. Truck 50's crew split with team "A" going with rescue engine 11 crew to vent and search. Team "B" laddered the "A" side of the roof and using hand tools and saw to place a 6 ' X 6 ' hole in the roof for ventilation of smoke and heat. After ventilation was complete and crews exited the roof, crew remained on scene to assist with overhaul and the fire marshal's office with the investigation. Truck 50 returned to service at 0515.

Mutual Aid Response: In the Streets

Mutual Aid Response: On September 11, 2010, Special Operations 50 attended the annual In the Streets festival on Market Street downtown. All types of displays including fire and EMS apparatus set up as part of a day to promote the business in the downtown Frederick area. The event started at 0800 and went until 1700.

Mutual Aid Response: Fox Hunt Court

Mutual Aid Response: At 1728 Truck 50 was alerted to 8232 Fox Hunt Court for reported house fire. Truck 50 arrived on scene with A/C 50. Truck crew placed ladders on side "C" and secured the utilities as well as interior attack with the engine crew. A/C 50 had Interior division. Fire was knocked down, and per command no salvage or overhaul until Fire Marshal completed the investigation.

Truck 50 released at 1920 hours.

Mutual Aid Response: Motorcycle Accident

Mutual Aid Response: Engine 502 was dispatched at 1838 from Fred. Co. station 15, after being transferred there to cover while they operated at a barn fire, for a motorcycle accident on I-70 west bound at the 64 mm. Engine 502 was the first to arrive and immediately called for aviation for a priority 2 category B trauma patient. Engine 502's officer then established I-70 command, placed squad 3 in service and held engine 331 to handle the landing zone in front of the accident scene. Carroll County medic 17 & 18 arrived soon after and started patient care. Patient was loaded in the back of CCM 17 and when trooper 3 arrived the patient was then loaded into the trooper 3 and taken to shock trauma. Command then was terminated and units cleared at 1924.

Mutual Aid Response on 06 May 10

Mutual Aid Response: At 1415 hours on 5/6/10, E-502 dispatched to fill the 1st alarm assignment. Crew from E-502 went to the command post and was assigned to the side "C" division with FD201. Crew took 1-3/4 line to division 4 to assist with fire attack. After 5 mins. of working on 4th division the crew was forced to evacuate. The crew was reassigned to side "A" for standby. After having a face to face with command, crew again was assigned to 3rd division for fire attack and overhaul. After working for 30 mins. the crew was pulled out and sent to rehab. This was our final assignment. Engine 502 returned to service at 1932.

Mutual Aid Response on 11 Mar 10

Mutual Aid Response: At 0709 a reported fire in the church at 12 South Church Street in Middletown sent Truck 50 responding. Truck 50 arrived on scene and Command-7 advised to take side "A". Truck 50 advised Command-7 that they would be the first arriving Truck and then was advised to go to side "C & D" by Chief-8. Truck 50 set up and laddered roof and start to ventilate side "C" of the roof. Crew found fire and smoke visible. Crew found the roof to be soft and was ordered off the roof. Truck 50 then was ordered to us the aerial on side "D" of the main peak of the roof. Crew found a slate roof and wooden shakes and plywood roof. Crew used ventilation Saws and cut 10x10 hole and found heavy smoke exiting the ventilation hole, Truck 41 Crew assisted with opening a second hole in roof. Command-7 was advised of the fire and smoke conditions in the main Church area. Crew finished ventilation task on side "D" and then was reassigned to "C" sector roof area to cut rafters and provide fire extinguishment. Crew found a rubber membrane roof and plaster ceiling to cut through. Truck 50 crew was assigned salvage and overhaul inside of the church on side "C". Crew helped pick up hose and equipment, after rehab Truck 50 was placed in service by Command-7 at 1151 hours.

Mutual Aid Response on 28 Feb 10

Mutual Aid Response: At 0904 Engine 502 was dispatched along with Co. 2 units for reported truck fire. Engine 22 arrived on the scene with a working fire in the trailer. The driver detached from the trailer when the fire was noticed. The Refrigerated rear portion of the trailer caught on fire, caused by the rupture of the diesel tank for the refrigerant. 502 crew assisted Engine 22 crew with extinguishment, and overhaul. Engine 502 returned to service at 0934.

Mutual Aid Response on 15 Jan 10

Mutual Aid Response: The early morning hours of 1-15-10 at 0456, Engine 502 was requested to respond to Montgomery County on I-270 and Montrose Road to assist with a tanker truck that was fully involved. Engine 502 arrived on the scene and was assigned to Eastern Division to protect the Command Post in the event of a running fuel fire. Crew pulled 2 foam lines for protection. Upon arrival of Dullas International Airports crash truck the fire was extinguished. Command then released Engine 502 after repacking the hand lines. The engine went in service at 0842.

Mutual Aid Response on 14 Jan 10

Mutual Aid Response: On 1-14-10 at 0842, Engine 502 responded to Rt. 15 and Hayward Road for another vehicle accident with entrapment. Engine 502 arrived on the scene first and Capt. 50 assumed Rt. 15 Command. Command confirmed a 2 vehicle accident with 1 entrapped and called for aeromedical. The crew from the Engine along with Rescue Squad 2 worked to free the trapped driver. Rescue Engine 11 arrived on the scene and provided protection for Trooper 3 which landed on RT. 15 while the roadway was shut down. Upon completion of extrication and the patient being flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma, Rt. 15 Command placed all units in service at 0923. Engine 502 returned to service.
