About SAS
School Age Services (SAS) provides a safe and caring environment for children between the ages of 6-12 years before and after school. It provides the children a place to explore the four services areas ( health and fitness; art, leisure, and recreation; life skills and citizenship; as well as mentoring and support services) as well as to hang out with their friends and to make new ones. Our activities are designed to promote healthy development and to encourage a positive attitude.
School Age Programs offers a variety of guest speakers, educational and cultural field trips, and special events during school closing and half days of school.
Fort Detrick SAS is nationally accredited through the National After School Association (NAA)
.
Before School Care
The before care program offer the children a safe place to wait for the bus, an opportunity to eat breakfast and to complete unfinished homework.
The program opens at 0600 and runs until the children are picked up by their bus, which is approximately 0815, and they are then transported to Whittier Elementary.
After School Care
After school the children return to the Youth Services where they are provided with a snack and the opportunity to participate in the four service areas, homework assistance, and computer skill enhancement. The children arrive at the Youth Center at 1600 and the program runs until 1800.
