Who Is Eligible
The Fort Detrick Child Development Center (CDC) accepts children ages six weeks to kindergarten ages. Active duty, DOD civilians and contract employees at Fort Detrick are eligible sponsors for this program. The CDC program enhances the development of children socially, emotionally, intellectually, creatively and physically. The staff develops an atmosphere in which program assistants and children work together to make children's time away from home happier and more secure.

Hourly Care Program
The CDC offers an Hourly Care Program for children ages six weeks to five years, 0900-1500. The maximum use is twenty hours per week, with a minimum 2 hour charge.
The CDC also offers hourly care in the morning from 0600-0730 and in the afternoon from 1645-1800 for PT purposes only. Please call the CDC at 301-619-3300 for reservations or to register for this program.
Rent-A-Space Program
This program allows patrons to rent their child's space at the CDC while the child is not attending the CDC for at least a week.

Extended Care
Fort Detrick Child Development Center, School Age Services, and Family Child Care programs provide full day care, part day care, hourly care, Youth sports, SKIES instructional programs, and a variety of summer day camp programs.
Extended care, and weekend care are available upon individual request with verification of mission requirement.

Junior Beginnings Program

This program (operates on Frederick County Public Schools schedule) provides a variety of activities to assist children with school readiness. Emphasis is placed on technology, the arts, physical development (including both gross motor and fine motor development), math, science, and literacy.
Children, 3-5 years old and potty trained are eligible for enrollment in this program. Junior Beginnings offers children an opportunity to socialize with other children while building readiness skills for school.
Part day program: Monday-Friday, from 0830 to 1200 for 3-5 years old not in kindergarten. Breakfast will be served at 0830.
