Fort Detrick
Civilian Welfare Council

Who We Are

The Civilian Welfare Fund is a non appropriated fund activity which uses money from vending machines on post to finance or subsidize activities for federal civilians working at Fort Detrick. The Council members plan and organize functions throughout the year. These include crab and shrimp feeds, holiday parties, picnics, bus trips to various events, such as dinner theater, ball games, Atlantic City and others. In addition, each unit is reimbursed $3.00 for each civilian attending his/her unit's summer picnic and holiday party (total of $6). The council also donates money to various events held on post which benefit both military and civilians. Of all the vending machines on post, the CWC earns money from 53 of them. These are buildings with primarily a civilian workforce.
